Nasdaq is preparing for equity trading 23 hours a day, five days a week. The expected transition date is December 6, 2026, subject to infrastructure readiness and any applicable regulatory changes.
The plan adds a 9 p.m.–4 a.m. New York session with a one-hour daily pause. The regular 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m. session remains in place.
More access, different liquidity
Longer hours could make US equities easier to access from Asia and the Gulf. They do not guarantee equally deep liquidity or tight spreads throughout the day. Actual access will depend on the broker and security.
Practical checks
Investors should confirm supported sessions, order types, trade-date treatment and settlement arrangements. Limit orders can help control execution prices when liquidity is thinner.
