Saudi Arabia’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) circulated final controls for algorithmic trading to capital market institutions on October 29, 2026. The rules take effect on November 1, with institutions given until December 31 to align their systems.
The order limit and its scope
The rate of algorithmic orders to executed orders may not exceed 20 orders per trading day for each registered trader and each listed security in the Main Market, during the open-market session (session II). The limit applies by liquidity classification: high, medium, low and very low.
Testing and monitoring requirements
Institutions must test trading systems and algorithms before use, monitor orders and issue alerts, retain records, be able to halt systems when necessary, and provide related data to the CMA and Saudi Exchange on request.
