Saudi Arabia’s Capital Market Authority opened consultation on listed-company governance and shareholder empowerment on October 29, 2026. Feedback is due by November 28, 2026. The proposals are not effective rules.
Shareholder rights and oversight
Proposals include allowing holders of 5% of voting shares to request an in-person general meeting alongside electronic participation, and requiring an independent director to chair the audit committee.
What are investors watching today?
October 29 is the deadline for a separate earnings-call consultation. It proposes two calls annually for Main Market companies, within five business days of results announcements and after market close, with presentations and recordings published. These remain proposals; the CMA envisages application starting with annual 2026 results, following adoption.
The new governance consultation runs until November 28. Market News view: investors should watch the final wording and obligations. Consultation alone does not make the proposals effective or establish a share-price impact.
