Jio Platforms’ IPO attracted more than $25 billion in anchor-investor bids, Reuters reported on October 19, 2026, citing two sources. Reliance named Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, BlackRock and Fidelity among participating investors.
Demand is not the amount raised
The offering targets about $3.2 billion at a valuation of up to $108.3 billion. Jio allocated more than 81 billion rupees, approximately $853 million, to anchor investors. Demand exceeded that allocation by more than 30 times, according to a Reuters source.
The $25 billion figure therefore describes bids for a specific portion, not cash raised by Jio or subscription coverage for the entire IPO. Public subscription is scheduled to open Wednesday, October 21.
The business behind the offering
Jio houses Reliance’s telecom and digital operations and serves more than 500 million subscribers. The listing tests how investors value that scale alongside its expansion into cloud and AI.
The report says up to 275 billion rupees of net proceeds are intended to repay or prepay borrowings at subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm.
What matters beyond strong demand
Market News analysis: institutional participation indicates interest, but does not establish that an offering price is attractive. Investors can compare valuation with earnings growth, cash generation and the investment needed for networks and digital services.
Other useful indicators include funding costs after debt repayment, revenue per user, competitive intensity and profitability from newer businesses. Subscriber growth and economic value per subscriber may move differently.
Anchor demand is one stage of the offering process and does not guarantee gains after listing. Follow Market News for Asian market coverage connecting IPO headlines with operating performance and valuation.
